As a woman, you are always having to prove yourself beyond the men. I have made it a point and a passion to change that. To put myself out there and show that women can do just as much or better than the guys. Of course, and still not “break a nail” so to speak. I have a circle of girlfriends who are heavily into cars and we autocross, work on our on vehicles, have kids, and go shopping all in one day! It just goes to show you that standards are changing. Women are not afraid to jump in there and have fun alongside the guys and show their passion for cars too.

I have been heavily involved in the import world for the last several years. But my original passion started when I was a young girl in my grandfather’s garage. I used to help by just sweeping his shop and driveway and fetching tools as he worked on the car and motorcycle. As I got old enough to drive he later showed me the basics so that I wouldn’t be swindled at a repair shop for “being a woman” as grandpa said. He showed me how to check my fluid and air levels, how to change a tire, how to change all the necessary light bulbs in my vehicles, and of course my air filter. Because as he said “It’s way cheaper to do yourself. Also a whole lot easier!” He was old fashioned but he worked alongside plenty of women in the factory at GM and Delphi and knew that they were just as hard working as men too.

I chose to go back to school in the automotive program at Lake Washington Tech in Kirkland, Washington. I wanted to add to my years of customer service so that I can have a well-rounded skill set. I had many options when I finished school I can be a tech or a service writer or in the future use my management experience and business knowledge to manage a shop. I wanted to expand my passion in the automotive world into a career
